About Me

I'm Will Hawkins.

I started out my working life crewing yachts in the Mediterranean for private owners, before joining the British Army. There, I travelled with the Army to Denmark, Kenya, South Armagh, the USA, France, Germany and back to Londonderry.

After five years, I cycled down Africa with my brother, from Hampshire to Cape Town, in a year. We travelled through France, Spain, Morocco, Algeria, Niger, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, Central African Republic, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and South Africa. Cycling over 11,000 miles, we got there in a year.

What followed next was a career in publishing and technology, working for companies including Blackwell Publishing, Microsoft, HP and more.

I'm now an digital editor in the outdoor leisure publishing. I create online content, optimise it for search engines and people, and promote.

Kit Reviews

As you've probably seen, I get to use a lot of equipment sent to me by manufacturers when I am out walking or cycling. I've reviewed clothing for Berghaus, Komperdell, Mountain Warehouse, Weird Fish, Endura (via Westbrook Cycles), the Ordnance Survey and more.

If you've equipment or clothing you'd like publicity for I can help you with reviews both here and on other publications I work in the outdoor leisure industry. Get in touch with me here for an initial chat.
